Hello everyone and happy Wednesday! I've got a fun, sweet card for you today using a few of my favorite dies and stamps!
To make the clouds, I used the Mama Elephant Landscape Trio Die.
Then, I trimmed it down to size using the smaller Femme Frames die.
To make the background, I wanted a burst pattern, so I used one of the rays from Avery Elle's Bright Days stamp set and stamped it in Avery Elle Sea Glass ink. (Such a pretty color!)
Since clouds will be covering some of it, I didn't need to worry about stamping the entire panel, then I just die cut that same Femme Frames stitched rectangle.
I layered it all together, but adding in a vellum panel to mute the Sea Glass. I love adding a layer of vellum.
Next, I stamped the balloons making sure to get enough pressure so the ink would go all the way up to the clouds and not leave any gaps. Since I'm stamping on vellum, I used my Hero Arts black dye ink and heat set it.
I stamped the bunny and the balloons again on a scrap piece of cardstock in Memento Tuxedo Black ink, since I need something that I can color with.
I started by adding color to the bunny first, using RV81, R81, R83, and R85. I'm no coloring expert - but if there's one great tip - it's to buy your colors in shades of 3.
Then I gave my bunny a bit of a yellow-ish shade. I wanted him to appear somewhat white so I kept it rather light. I used E0000, E000, and YR30.
Then, I went around the entire outside of the bunny with B0000. This is extremely subtle - it just makes him pop off the cloud.
And using all sorts of copics, I colored my balloons.
Then I adhered the ballons to my card. I also adhered the vellum to the Sea Glass stamped panel with a bit of adhesive where it wouldn't show behind the balloons.
I love how it looks to add white to the critters and balloons, so I used my white Uniball gel pen and gave them some character.
Check out the cheeks. :) You can also see just how that blue works too!
Using the coordinating scallop for Femme Frames, I cut a Desert Storm panel.
I adhered my entire panel to it and stamped a sentiment from the new Avery Elle Red & Goldie.
Lastly, I added a bunch of glitter using my Wink of Stella clear glitter brush.
I had intended to make this a traditional card size but I couldn't decide on what color to mount it to - so I decided to leave it at that and just cut the card base using the die.
Here's how I positioned it:
1. Scor your card base.
2. Position the die so that it cuts 3 sides but NOT the folded side. Here you can see, on the top side, how the die sits just barely above the fold.
3. Cut! As always, I used a bit of low tack tape to keep it in place while I ran it through my Big Shot.
It's important to make sure you take a couple of passes through your die cutting machine, since it's two layers instead of just one!
Then I just adhered my card front to the die cut base.
A sweet, fun birthday card for someone of any age!
Thanks so much for stopping by and sharing part of your day with me!
