Welcome to the CLASSroom. I have another dimensional scene card to share with you today. I love tree dies and have several in my collection. Two of my favorites are the Memory Box Grand Alder Tree and Small Alder Tree. Layered together they create a wonderful dimensional tree. Adding brightly colored Flower Soft brings the tree to life against the all white background.
Cut two trees using white cardstock and color the branches and leaves with markers.
Lay the trees on a molding pad and form the branches with the large stylus. Push down on some of the branches from the front side and turn over and push down on the other branches from the back side.
Cut thin strips of mounting tape and attach to the back of the small tree.
Attach the small tree to the larger tree. The mounting tape will hold the trees slightly apart from each other to create dimension.
Apply glossy accents to the leaves in small sections of the tree at a time, making sure you get some on the leaves of the back branches of the tree as well as the top branches.
Apply a heavy layer of Flower Soft to the glossy accent covered leaves, pushing down lightly with your fingers, wait for a minute or so and then shake off the excess. Repeat these steps until the whole tree is covered.
Apply strips of mounting tape to the white layer and attach to pink layer.
Apply strips of mounting tape to the pink layer and attach to the card base. The slight separation between the layers adds dimension and interest to the project.
Apply rolled glue dots to several sections of the back of the tree and mount to the card base. Hint: Rolled glue dots add a small amount of distance between the tree and the card base but not quite as much as mounting tape. I didn’t want the tree attached flat to the base but didn’t want it quite as high as another full layer of tape would make it. I hope that makes sense. Pull the branches apart as needed if they have flattened some during this process.
Apply small strips of mounting tape to the back of the fence skipping the section of fence directly over the tree and attach to the card base.
Cut a small bit of the grass border off the bottom to shorten a little so it doesn’t cover too much of the fence and attach it to the small grass border with ATG adhesive.
Apply glossy accents and Flower Soft to the taller grass sections and allow to dry. Attach mounting tape to the back of the grass and attach to the fence.
Add a few matching butterflies to the scene for the finishing touch.
I really enjoy making projects that only use a couple of colors on all white backgrounds. The white is crisp and creates the perfect background for the bright and colorful scene.
Thank you for joining me in the CLASSroom today.
