Do you have any favorite places to search for inspiration? While there are boat loads of inspiration on the internet, Pinterest anyone, I find that I get lost on the internet way too easily. Before I know it an hour will have gone by and I will have wasted all my time pinning dinners to try instead of crafting!
To keep myself off of the computer, when I’m looking to give myself a jump start, one of my favorite places to start are 6x6 patterned paper pads! That's how I came up with this card.
If you like 6x6 paper pads, I can tell you that some great ones will be coming into the store! Most of them I saw at CHA and they are amazing! To get going on my card, I started with the new Lawn Fawn Hello Sunshine and Let's Polka paper pads.
I love love LOVE these 6x6 pads. I had to share a few of my favorite papers from this Hello Sunshine 6x6 pad.
Check out this sweet cloud paper! Living in Seattle, we see lots of clouds and gosh wouldn't it be fun if rain drops were this cute!
This banner/bunting page is just sweet and all of the patterns are so approachable. That's probably what I love most about these two 6x6 pads! Sometimes I find bold, bright patterns intimidating but I know I'll use every sheet in this 6x6 pad.
Stripes make me happy. These aren't too small, they aren't too big. These stripes are perfect. The colors, again, just make me grin!
After flipping through the Hello Sunshine 6x6 pad, I knew exactly what I wanted to do! I wanted to create a little scene using the coordinating Hello Sunshine stamp set with a few pieces of inspiration from the paper pad!
First, I stamped the lines on my card, using the new Avery Elle Fog ink. (If you haven't gotten the new Avery Elle pigment inks in your hands, you must! They are FABULOUS!)
Then I stamped the birds and the sentiment. Now, I'll be paper piecing these birds, that's why I didn't worry about masking them and stamp the birds first! Makes it a little easier!
Then I stamped the solid cloud in Avery Elle Sea Glass. Yes, this is a must have color.
And it coordinates so well with Avery Elle Aquamarine! I just positioned the stiched cloud stamp near each solid cloud. I could have stamped it on top of it but I thought it was fun to make them off center.
Again, taking inspiration from the paper, I saw all the little hearts, stars and moons around the clouds - so I did the same thing, using Avery Elle Raspberry!
Avery Elle Mimosa for the stars!
Lastly, Avery Elle Fizz for the moons. I tried to do the less is more and it was hard to stop - but worth it! I just wanted a sprinkling!
Then I went in and paper pieced my birds, stamping them first on patterned paper and then cutting them out right through the line of the stamped bird and adhering it to the card!
After I was done, I decided I wanted to put it on a layer of kraft, so I trimmed it down just a hair so only the tiniest bit of kraft would show.
Lastly, I pulled out my favorite Lemon Lawn Fawn twine and tied a yellow bow. It's just the happiest color!
I love how it turned out, almost a one layer card and just goes to show how taking inspiration from a 6x6 pad, where you have some design basics and a color scheme already picked out for you, can be a fun jump start to get you crafting!
Thank you so much for sharing part of your day with me! Have a wonderful day!
