Hello Everyone! Thanks so much to Ellen for having me in the CLASSroom today! I am thrilled to be sharing my projects with you all. Sometimes have a hard time deciding on what I want to do with new craft goodies so for today's post I decided to just try a few of the ideas floating around in my head. All these projects use the same basic supplies with a few variations for each design.
For all my projects I wanted to play with the new tiny stars background stamp and silver shadow ink. I also decided to use the modern landscape die that I have had in my stash for awhile but have yet to use! For my first two cards I stamped the star background with silver ink on a white card base.
I then clear embossed the sentiments on a strip of white card stock and colored them with distress inks and my blending tools. I used a combinations of ripe persimmon, seedless preserves and chipped sapphire distress inks for my "evening sky" colors.
I cut my landscape from a long piece of black card stock. Cutting the die on a piece of paper longer than my card allowed me to extend the edges past the die cut. This gives more flexibility on the length of my landscape and allowed me to line up the houses and trees right where I wanted them, on top of my inked panel. Then I could just trim the black piece to size after I had it positioned correctly.
I only wanted two of the trees on the far right so I just trimmed the other two off right at the bottom of the trunks.
I used the "super" owl from Lawn Fawn's Critters in Costume set to make my second card at little more cute. I colored him with Copic markers then used the coordinating dies to cut him out. The white border that these dies leave is perfect for helping the owl stand out against the darker inked background panel.
I also used black diamond stickles to add some sparkle to my landscape by applying it with my finger and coating with a thin layer rather than a thick line of stickles. The iridescent crystal clear sequins are perfect embellishments, subtle accents that do not distract from the starry background.
On my last card I wanted to try stamping the silver on the colored sky. I love the way it turned out, but all those tiny stars are a little too busy to stamp a sentiment over them, so I just added the little heart word bubble from Lawn Fawn's Into the Woods stamp set.
Thanks so much for joining me today in the CLASSroom. I hope these projects inspire you to play with different ideas using the same ingredients for your designs.
