We are so very excited to have Jennifer Rzasa joining us here in the CLASSroom today as she shares this "awesome" thank you card with coordinating envelope! Jen is the founder of the Runway Inspired Challenge blog - now I may not be the most fashionable gal on the planet, BUT I absolutely love watching fashion trends and Jen is amazing at selecting images that inspire! We can see much of our card making world patterned after the trends that you see in fashion. I would like to encourage you to participate in the challenges you will find at the Runway Inspired Challenge blog - they are fabulous and fashion forward! AND we are one of the sponsors each month - so there is a fun prize attached to it as well ;-D
Splatter is such a huge trend these days and it is fun to share yet another method of getting this look with not much fuss or mess! Jen uses supplies we all have in our stash to create this look on today's ensemble! You can find more fashionably inspired projects with a beautiful clean style on Jen's blog Our Change of Art. We would appreciate if you would help us thank Jen for being our guest here in the CLASSroom by heading over to her blog and leaving a comment on her post that features the products shown below. As our way of thanking you for taking the time to do so you will have a chance to win these goodies.
Thank you Jen for inspiring us and sharing your creativity with us here in the CLASSroom! -Ellen
Hi there! I am so excited to be a guest today, and I want to thank Ellen for giving me this awesome opportunity. Today I'll be creating a fun card using some die cutting, some splatter, along with a coordinating envelope! Here are a few tips for creating this fun thank you note.
The splatter is done with supplies that you probably already have in your stash- ink, an acrylic block, a brush, and some water. I love using ink for splatter on my projects because I know my colors will match the stamping perfectly.
When making the card, I first stamped the "awesome" in the center, then covered it up to prevent excess ink from splashing onto it. You can cut or punch a circular mask out of scrap paper, but I found that one of my circle dies (which has a plastic center) was just the right size to place over the stamping. I tapped my acrylic block into a few different colors of my favorite Hero Arts Ink, then added some water with my brush. To get those glorious flecks and blobs of color, just hold the brush in one hand and tap with the other;
The rest of the card features a die cut skyline, little stars (I used white cardstock and colored it with the ink I used above), and some snazzy glitter paper.
To create the matching envelope, I used the We R Memory Keepers Envelope Punch Board (my new fave tool) with a sheet of 8"x8" cardstock to get the perfect size. Once everything was punched and scored, I embossed the skyline using the same die as I did earlier.
Lastly, I added the finishing touches - some more splatter and a few cute stars to coordinate with the ones on my card.
