I love the contemporary look and feel of the Modern Leaves set by Avery Elle--so glad they also produce a matching set of dies!
This card design was actually inspired by some tea packaging I had seen on Pinterest and I thought the design elements and the layout were so striking I had to try to mimic the overall effect on a card. :)
I went wild over the Artisan papers by Pink Paislee when we first spied them at CHA Winter but I haven't had a chance to use them until today--the designs are already pre-embossed in clear on the white card stock and you can customize them with color mists, or do as I did apply some water-based dye ink right over the top; the paper absorbs the color and the embossed patterns will resist the ink.
TIPS:
- Packaging ideas can be a fantastic source of inspiration; they often feature layouts that you can adapt very easily to a card
- The Artisan Papers not only serve as a wonderful background to your project, they also save you time! And even better, you're only limited by the colors of ink you have in your stash!
- Felt pads tend to "glide" much easier over embossed surfaces when doing resist techniques with dye inks; try using them instead of the sponge type on your applicator tool
- Pops of bold color against the grey/black neutrals help keep the card bright and cheerful and support the overall modern look and feel of the design
- Make sure your top layer has a nice amount of [foam dimensional adhesive]support to eliminate sagging
