Christmas is over and life is slowly returning to normal. Cleaning up my craft room, I decided to pack up all my holiday craft supplies until next year. Mid-way through I just had to stop myself though. All those beautiful snowflake products shouldn't be put away yet. They aren't just for the holidays. I decided instead to think of ways to use them now.
We were thankful to get some snow just in time for Christmas and while it's not a lot, it's enough to have fun in. Before my daughter left to go back to school, she was kind enough to give in to my nagging and let me take some pictures of her before she left.
One of my crafting resolutions for the new year is to get back to doing more scrapbooking. I'm sure I'll be sharing some of my layouts in the CLASSroom this year and hope they inspire you to try your hand at it.
Most of my layouts use a lot of patterned paper but I wanted to keep with the idea of the beautiful simplicity of snow and nature. Plain cardstock can be a little boring but mists and stamping make it easy to punch it up a little. I've misted this kraft cardstock with a Calico White opaque mist and then stamped on some random white snowflakes. I'm glad I didn't put that holiday set away!
Next came the process of adding my photos and creating a design. It's a simple layout with the embellishments added in around the photos. When creating a layout, it's best to pick one photo as the focal point. You can do this by making one of them a little larger than the others.
White and Kraft always look beautiful together and they work well for a winter themed layout as well.
Some Jenni Bowlin flag stickers make a great place to add in the date of the photo shoot.
After creating the layout, I went back and added pearl stickers to the centers of the stamped snowflakes to make them stand out.
Finally, the title is adhered over a journaling tag. My journaling is added below the accent photos with a Copic Multi-liner Marker.
Thanks for joining me today in the CLASSroom! Wishing you a very creative 2013!
