Happy Friday, everyone! With February just one week away from today, I thought I would get a head start on my February calendar:
Valentine's Day is my favorite holiday to create projects for -- I LOVE this combination of colors! I decided to accentuate the teal/aqua accent flowers in this gorgeous sheet of Basic Grey True Love 6x6 patterned paper, so I stamped Lockhart Stamp Company's Oodles of Doodles Heart with Memento Tuxedo Black ink onto X-Press It Blending Card and colored it with these Copic Sketch markers and Red Atyou Spica Glitter Pen:
The heart is SO quick and easy to color, with all the pretty doodles already drawn in for you! It was hand trimmed and popped up on Copic Foam Tape. Next, I printed Ellen's 2013 Ring Binder Calendar PDF Download (sized to 80%) on Neenah Natural White cardstock and trimmed it closely.
When I saw Julie make this project with Lifestyle Crafts' new Shape 'N Tape (it's washi tape in sheet form that can be die cut or cut into any shape you want!), I said "Shut the front door" and immediately went shopping! I used Shape 'N Tape-Teal Blue, and die cut it with My Favorite Things Die-namics Postage Stamp Edge die. The photo above shows the die I originally intended to use -- you can see how well the tape cuts, even with very intricate dies! But after I die cut the tape with the Memory Box Pepita die above, I decided I wanted something wider with more presence to anchor my calendar. I really like how the Postage Edge looks like a window awning!
I finished my calendar with a red Baker's Twine tied teal button. If you aren't into making calendars, you could also use this same layout for a scrapbook page by just replacing the calendar with a photo. I use my calendar pages in my scrapbook, after the month is over. Or you could just trim this down a little and use it for a Valentine's Day card!
