When you like to make clean & simple cards, like I do, it’s nice to come up with techniques that add interest without adding bulk. The same idea applies when you are creating cards that need to mailed without adding extra postage! Today’s card does both.
I love the look of gradient colors and I’m excited to share a really simple technique for creating color gradients without using a special inkpad.
I paired pink and lavender ink on this card to create a sparkly row of dangling ornaments. The technique for creating the color gradient on each image is simple:
Use a light tapping motion to add color to the top and bottom of your stamp. Solid stamps work best for this since there is more surface area to apply ink. Apply the lighter color to the bottom half of the image and apply the second , darker color to the top. By working from light to dark, you won’t sully your lighter inkpad with the darker ink color.
Apply a small amount of the darker ink onto a sponge and use this to softly tap the point where the two colors meet. This will create a better blend from one color to the next.
Stamp your images as shown. They may not be exactly the same, but that’s the beauty of it!
To finish off this design, I added a bit of purple Ice Stickles to the top of each ornament. Glitter makes everything better right?!
I’m so happy to have shared this project with you! Now, I’m off to make more holiday cards…nothing like some last minute crafting! -Amber
