Zippers are so on trend right now, and flowers never go out of style, so what could be a more fabulous embellishment than a zipper flower? I have found a really easy and quick way to make one of these, and wanted to share it with all of you :o)
Start by cutting about 18" of the zipper color of your choice.
After you have the zipper cut, pull the two sides apart. You will only need one side to make the flower.
Adhere a 1/4" double sided tape, like Be Creative, to both sides of the zipper.
Peel back both sides of the tape.
Fold back the top of the zipper and stick it to itself with the tape.
Wind the zipper around itself, making little pleats with the double sided tape about every 1/2".
Continue to pleat and wrap the zipper, as you pull the protective cover off just the parts of the double sided tape that are necessary.
You guessed it, keep pleating and wrapping :o)
This is what the back side looked like when I made mine.
Keep pleating and wrapping until you come to the end of the zipper piece and then press the end into the double sided tape.
This is what the top of mine looked like when I was done...
and the back.
Now all you need is a card or layout to put your fun new embellishment on. I made one using Neenah Solar White card stock, Hero Arts Flowing Flowers and Leaves cling stamp, Adirondack Wild Plum Pigment ink, Wander by Basic Grey patterned paper and brads.
Adhere the zipper flower using your favorite adhesive for textured products, I used Fabri-Tac, it is my favorite product when ever I have a fabric embellishment that needs a good, permanent hold.
