Summer is definitely in full swing here in Texas and I realized I didn't have any summer "refrigerator art" for my fridge! So I decided to remedy that with this 6" x 6" Summer canvas. I began by printing my 4" x 6" photo on Claudine Hellmuth's Studio Sticky Back Canvas. This was the first time I tried printing a photo on the canvas and was pleasantly surprised at the photo quality:
(These were my girls, ready to hit the swimming pool on the first day of Summer!) Then I adhered the canvas to a 6" x 6" piece of Ellen's Craft-a-Board, to give it stability. Next, I painted the Stamper's Anonymous Tim Holtz-Floral Tattoo stamp with Claudine Hellmuth's Studio Paint in Classic Teal and stamped onto the canvas:
Then I painted the top and lower edges of the canvas and Craft-a-Board with Yellow Pastel Studio Paint (the color is really a prettier soft yellow in person -- my camera was just having trouble with it!):
I was pleasantly surprised at how well Ellen's Craft-a-Board took the paint along the lower edge, without peeling or buckling -- this was the first time I had tried paint on it!
Next, Maya Road's Mini Alphabet Chipboard-Noah "summer" letters were painted with Sky Blue Studio Paint and then sprinkled with turquoise Martha Stewart glitter while the paint was still wet:
Ranger's Glossy Accents was used to adhere the sparkly chipboard letters to the top of the canvas:
To finish the bottom of the canvas, I airbrushed white Prima Tamera lace with Copic BG45 Sketch marker (I thought the lace resembled water waves!):
and added a Zva crystal swirl:
This canvas has magnets on the back and as I said, will decorate my refrigerator this summer with my two cuties! You could also display this canvas on an easel in your home or attach a ribbon hanger to it and either hang it on a wall or doorknob. When you are finished displaying it, it can then be tucked into a scrapbook album. I hope you'll have fun with this technique of printing your photos on the Sticky Back Canvas ... it was lots of fun to play with!
