Summer parties are SO much fun to host. Why not hang some sweet paper decorations around to add to the ambiance? I used 6 x 6 papers but just think of how cool larger versions of these paper lanterns will look mixed in with the smaller ones.
supplies:
Webster's Pages, Seaside Retreat 12x12 Paper Kit, Webster's Pages, Petite Paper Pad, Garden Gala/Seaside Retreat, Webster's Pages, Petite Paper Pad, Lullaby Lane/Life's Potrait
start by folding the square 6 x 6 paper in half.
and cut slits down the entire piece of paper. Make sure to cut along the fold. Simply staple the "cone shape" together on each end
I used a trimmer and cut in 1/2 increments, but you can also use scissors
adhere along both ends to attach both papers. I used liquid glue but a staple will hold them in place nicely.
I cut a 12 x 12 paper down to 5 x 12, rolled it up and added it inside the paper lantern.
Meet the edge and staple in place. Repeat on the bottom. Remember that the paper lantern was created with 6 inch paper, so by adding a shorter piece in the center, it helps it fan out.
accordion fold four 6 x 6 papers and score at 1 inch along the entire sheet. Fold back and forth. Adhere all 4 sides for a square paper lantern.
add a paper handle to all 3 lanterns. Each are 1 inch wide. I added 2 strips together for the larger paper lantern. Embellish each handle with twine and an accent rose.
Hang beads down from the bottom...or perhaps rolled paper strips? It's easy to create coordinating straw toppers, place mats or invitations. Just use a coordinating paper collection. I hope you make 10 zillion of these cuties! Thanks for stopping by :)
