I never would have believed these shutter cards are quick to assemble - they always looked like they took eons to create. I tried one, and they do indeed come together in a snap!
This one is going to my mum this year. If you've never made one of these, start with a 12" x 5-1/2" piece of card stock as your base. Score along the 12" side at 2", 4", 8" and 10". Cut perpendicular to the score lines 1-1/2" down from the top and up from the bottom, starting at the 2" score line and ending at the 10" one. Accordion fold along the score lines as in photo above.
The base above is ready, and I'm using Hero Arts Everyday Sayings on eggshell card stock from Memory Box. Patterned papers are from Jenni Bowlin.
Memory Box Classic Flourish image was stamped using Distress Aged Mahogany, and since Distress inks do not dry immediately I took the opportunity to apply a hint of Distress Antique Linen using an ink blending tool. The mahogany color bled ever so slightly, giving me the vintage look I was looking for.
I added sparkle, color and the appearance of water to these Prima flowers. Into a Mini Mister I added one dropper full of Distress Brushed Corduroy reinker and 1/2 teaspoon of Perfect Pearls Gold. Fill the mini mister with water to 1/2" from the top, to allow room for shaking/mixing.
Working over a non-stick craft sheet, I spritzed the combined reinker and perfect pearls, then heat set.
A before and after shot.
To add the effect of raindrops on the flower's petals, I inked up the petals using Versamark, then generously sprinkled clear UTEE (Ultra Thick Embossing Enamel), then gently tapped off the excess.
Heat set the UTEE. This gives the look of raindrops on the petals.
Daffodil pearls were added to the front and back of the shutters. Distress Antique Linen was used with the flourish image to create the back shutter panel where I'll get the kids and everyone to sign. Fun, easy and speedy! Thank you for stopping by the CLASSroom blog today!
