Summer is on it's way if it hasn't already arrived yet. The new Cosmo Cricket Delovely line inspires bright and fun projects and makes me think of summer and teen projects. Pairing up a 6x6 mini papers pad with Black Inchies, a photo and some Craft-a-board makes a fun photo frame alternative.
To create this project I first started with 16 Black Inchies and arranged them into a square.
On some of the inchies, I adhered 3/4" squares cut from the the Cosmo Cricket Delovely Mini Deck.
Leaving the four center squares blank, I stamped some pretty Hero Arts images in white craft ink onto the remaining inchies. By using the black inchies instead of white, it really makes the colors of the paper pop. the images shown here are from the Antique Engraving and the Earth Flowers stamp sets.
To add the photo to the center of the project, print out or cut to a 2" square size and then cut into 1" squares. This will work best if you keep the cuts away from the main features of a face.
I decided I didn't like my original spacing between the inchies and moved them closer before adhering them well. Once all my layers were adhered together, I glued them to a 6" square piece of black cardstock.
The Cosmo Cricket Tiny Type letters make a quick and easy sentiment.
While looking for the perfect embellishments for this project, I came across some of the Green at Heart Bloomers by Basic Grey in my stash. I was amazed at how well the colors matched up and I seriously love these fun stitched fabric flowers. They look like custom handmade embellishments without all the work.
To give this project stability, I adhered the layers onto a 6x6" square of Craft-a-Board. I love this sturdy and oh so useful product for so many things. To keep this frame propped up, I created an easel back the same as I did for the Craft-a-Board frame here. If you click on the above photo to enlarge it, you'll be able to see the Craft-a-Board layer.
I chose to make this project into a fun paper frame but you could also use it for other things. Punch the top or the project with a Crop-a-Dile and thread with ribbon to hang it up. If you cut more 6x6" squares of Craft-a-Board you could bind them together with the Bind It All to create your own mini album or notebook.
Thanks for joining me today in the CLASSroom!
