Taking your paper crafting supplies and using them for other fun altered projects is a natural progression for crafters and a real industry trend right now. I love being able to try new things and ideas and I was thrilled to be able to alter this sweet Prima Canvas Camera Bag. It's the perfect size for my teenage daughter's point and shoot camera and turned out so cute that I'm thinking I just may need to create with the larger canvas camera bag size for my own camera. A super fun accessory for my creative travels.
Here's a picture of the Prima Canvas Camera Bag that I started with. It's a great blank palette of thick canvas and a padded interior.
To color the bag, I spritzed it with Viva Pink Glimmer Mist on all sides. The Non-Stick Craft Sheet makes a fabulous surface for creating on as it's super easy to wipe up the over-spray. Have lots of tissue or paper towel on hand to wipe up the excess. Allow the dye mist to dry well before trying to adhere embellishments to it.
The Prima Innoscence flowers are fabulous for custom inking and misting. This Fiesta flower is sprayed with Viva Pink Glimmer Mist and Tiger Lily Glimmer Mist.
Here's what the flower looks like dry. In real life you can see the beautiful shimmer the mist leaves.
Because I had decided to use some black accents on this project, I didn't want the flower to look washed out beside them. After laying a strip of wax paper over the petals to protect them, I colored in the stamen tips with a black Copic Marker. Then center of the flower was then colored in with a RV14 Begonia Pink Copic Marker.
To adorn the top flap of the camera bag, I adhered a rhinestone flourish by Zva. The flower was adhered with liberal amounts of Glossy Accents.
The Zva Alpha rhinestones made a great button embellishment with the initial of my daughter's name.
I adhered on a portion of a Maya Road Journaling Tag to the front of the pocket using more Glossy Accents.
To finish off the project, I tied on a strip of beautiful Black Crochet Ribbon by May Arts. It's fun and unique and my daughter is thrilled with the gift.
Looking for other fun ideas for altering? There are lots of great canvas products in the store that you can use the same techniques on. The Large Canvas Camera Bag, the Canvas Apron, Fabric Bags and many many canvas albums would all be wonderful to alter.
Thanks for joining me today in the CLASSroom!
