Designing cards for teenage boys has to be one of the greatest challenges we face as card makers (at least for me). We don't want it to be too plain or boring and yet, there can be NO FRILLS!
We are featuring Cosmo Cricket this week in the CLASSroom so I thought it would be a great opportunity to focus in on the collection called "The Boyfriend" again. There are a lot of papers in this 6x6 Mini Deck that are a great fit for those young men we know. Ellen has decided to offer a Deal of the Week on The Boyfriend Line so be sure to check that out. I have two designs for you today...
The Basic Grey Eerie Brads are a great match for papers in this first card, as are the yellow buttons in the Green at Heart collection. I used four of the Eerie brads to decorate the button.
Stamp the ruler from the Just a Note Stamp set (Hero Arts) on Real Wood Birch Paper (Creative Imaginations) with Graphite Black Brilliance Ink. A note about inks on this "wood paper" - I have tested over 9 inks and paints and the Brilliance showed no feathering and had the richest coverage.
Cut out your fun little "wood" ruler. Is this not just the cutest thing ever?! Ack. Love it.
Adhere this Black Calendar Card (Jenni Bowlin) askew off the paper and trim the excess. Add the words Happy Birthday with the the Tiny Type Alphabet Stickers in Cream and Black.
The card base is Gourd (Memory Box) and the pencil paper is layered on Licorice cardstock. The ric rack ribbon is also from The Boyfriend line.

On the second card I wanted to break up the sentiment into two parts. I used the Judikins Eclipse Tape so that I could ink up a portion of the sentiment while keeping the other clean.
Simply remove the tape once it is inked and stamp as desired. Clean the stamp and repeat, masking off the first word this time.
The sentiment (from The Beach stamp set, General Motors) was stamped with Coffee Archival Ink.
Add the skateboard self adhesive chipboard and the ribbon (both included in the Deal of the Week) and the Offbeat (Basic Grey) green brads.
It was a wonderful weekend for me and I hope it was for you too!
Cheers, Lisa
