I want to rock and roll all night and get crafty every day...
Are you singing along with me yet? I love that old school rock song and a little change in the wording gets me ready to dance in the aisles of my craft room! It also reminds me to play with the technique called rocking and rolling, and I thought that would be fun to share for those of you who aren't familiar with it.
I started with a #8 White tag, a sheet of Neenah Solar white, Marmalade Spice, Dried Marigold, Scattered Straw, Fired Brick, Shabby Shutters, and Peeled Paint Distress Inks.
We are going to press Dried Marigold, Scattered Straw, and Spiced Marmalade onto our craft sheet in three rows that are approximately the width of the stamp we are using which is the Cornish Heritage Farms Large Polka Dot Backgrounder.
Place the cling mounted stamp onto a clear block and then carefully place onto the ink that is on the craft sheet and gently press the stamp to pick up the ink from the mat, you will want to pull it about 1/4" to the left and right so that the colors are carefully blended where they meet each other on the stamp to create a nice transition.
Because the stamp isn't the same width as the tag, I just flipped it over and stamped the end to finish it off, we will be putting a ribbon through that will cover the seam, so don't worry if it doesn't match perfectly.
Cut a piece of Cut-N-Dry foam and pick up a little color from the Scattered Straw pad.
Lightly blend into the edges of the tag.
Next we will need the large flower image from the Ornamental Beauty set. Always start with the lightest color first, apply a layer of Dried Marigold onto the center of the stamp.
Then apply the next lightest color which in the case is the Spiced Marmalade around the outside of the image.
The darkest color is applied last and this is where we do the rolling! Roll the side of the ink pad along the very outermost edges of the stamp.
Press onto your Solar White paper.
For the leaves apply Shabby Shutters first and then roll the Peeled Paint along the edges of the flourish. Now it is time for a little fussy cutting and maybe this is a good time to listen to a little classic rock and roll to make it even more fun ;o)
Stamp the sentiment using Peeled Paint and use the Cut-N-dry to apply the Scattered Straw onto the edges of the sentiment, the flower and the flourish leaves. Fold sentiment over the edge and then stitch onto left side of tag.
Sew flower into the center of the tag. Adhere the flourishes with dimensional foam adhesive and then the beautiful green cameo piece from the Webster's Pages Nature's Storybook Silhouettes into the center of the flower. Tie a piece of Olive colored May Arts silk ribbon into the top of the tag.
The greens are the same color in real life, and compliment the rich yellow, oranges and red beautifully.
Thanks so much for stopping by to share a classic technique with me, and hopefully this will have you dancing you your craft room too!
