Hello and a very Merry Christmas Eve to you all! Since it's Christmas Eve, I thought I would share a Christmas cookie card with you today! Along with a tutorial on how to use Martha Stewart's Punch-Around-The-Page punches!
Karen Lockhart's darling Cookies for the Neighbors image was stamped with Memento Rich Cocoa ink onto Neenah Natural White cardstock and colored with the Copic markers pictured below and Spica Glitter Pens in Gold, Melon & Pink:
For a perfect Punch Around The Page border or mat, you will need to start with any combination of these sizes of paper: 3.25", 5.00", 6.75", 8.50" 10.25" or 12". So you could make a photo mat that is 5" x 6.75" or a square page or card embellishment that is 3.25" square or 5" square, etc, or edge your 12" scrapbook page.
After cutting your paper or cardstock to the selected size (here, I used 3.25" square), begin by punching the corners first. Be sure to flip the corner holder "wings" on the punch out -- the punch arrives to you with them folded in, for more compact storage:
The edger punch will also arrive to you with its sides folded up (a great space-saving attribute for compact storage!), so you'll need to fold those down first. Next, slide your paper into the edger punch and align the punched corner with the special marking on the edger punch that is right next to the lever/punch housing (you can use either the left or right side -- whichever is most comfortable to you):
Continue punching the straight edge by sliding your paper over and aligning your first punched images with the markings on the flat edge of the punch. With this size of paper, though, I only had to punch the edge once to complete the pattern:
Repeat on all sides of your paper and you'll have a beautifully edged paper!
To finish my card, I trimmed a Memory Box Sugar Plum notecard base to 4.25" square and put a 4" piece of patterned paper on top of that. I cut out the cookie image and layered it onto my "crown" mat with foam tape. I hope you all have a wonderful Christmas holiday with your loved ones ... thank you for visiting today! ~ Sharon
