Just three more weeks until Halloween and I thought it was time to get creating some fun treat containers for the occasion. It a really unique way of packaging sweets to give to your favorite trick or treaters. These test tubes are super easy to cover and embellish and hold a nice quantity of goodies. Here's how I made them!
The Martha Stewart Test Tube Favors come in a package of eight and are about 6.5" tall. Unlike real test tubes which are breakable glass, these test tubes are plastic and durable. I covered each of mine with a 3"x4" piece of Memory Box Twilight patterned paper.
I used a strong double sided adhesive to hold the paper onto the test tube. Be sure to adhere straight so that the paper will roll on neatly. Adhere other side after rolling with more double sided adhesive.
My favorite ink to use is the Tuxedo Black Memento Ink. This image is the pumpkin label from the All Things Considered Fall Harvest stamp set by CHF.
Here's the Copic Marker colors I used... YR09, BV08, V15, YG95, YR21, YG93, & YR18
Don't worry about coloring outside of the image when you are cutting it out. I wish you could see it better in this photo but I highlighted the pumpkin with a Clear Spica glitter pen.
If you're pressed for time and you're looking for a quicker version of this test tube, simply stamp an image onto colored cardstock and call it good. I used Memory Box Concord Grape Cardstock and the Memory Box Jack O Lantern cardstock to mat the images. A fun way to define the edges to to add a grungy look is to ink them with black ink.
To put the project together, a purple velvet ribbon is tied around the test tube and knotted. After punching a hole in the images to create a tag, they are then pinned to the ribbon knot. Fill test tubes with holiday candy and cap with cork.
If you're in need of some more ideas for these test tubes, why not rework the design for Christmas, Valentine's or a birthday. These test tubes could also be filled with glitter, confetti, bubbles or anything else fun and small.
Happy creating and thanks for stopping by the CLASSroom!
