I've been wanting to make a photo greeting card for some time now and when I first saw this new Memory Box Crystal Chandelier stamp, the idea finally came together. This photo of my husband and I was taken last summer when we were on a cruise with friends and had scheduled a nice dinner alone, without the kids. The dining room was very elegant and reminiscent of cruiseliners from years past, so this beautiful chandelier seemed very fitting!
I began by printing the black and white photo of my husband and I onto Neenah Classic Natural White cardstock, as opposed to photo paper, because I wanted a more muted, vintage look to the photo. After trimming the photo, I matted it with more Natural White cardstock that I cut with deckle-edged scissors.
The chandelier was stamped with Memento Rhubarb Stalk ink onto Natural White cardstock and die cut with Classic Oval Nestabilities. The mat was die cut from Memory Box Licorice cardstock.
Hopefully you can see in an enlarged view of the photo above (just click on it), the subtle sparkle created by using Copic Spica Glitter Pens in red and clear to color in the flames and crystals. A hole was punched in the top of the popped-up oval and card base, and red silk ribbon tied through.
TIP: Keep white ribbon stocked in your craft room, so you can instantly have matching ribbon for any project, simply by coloring it with your Copic markers!
The card base is a Memory Box Cranberry notecard on which I pierced a double row of holes on the left side above the photo. The "you light up my life" sentiment is also by Memory Box and was stamped with Tuxedo Black Memento ink.
I hope you'll give this photo card a try, using a photo that is very special to you. Now I'm all set with a Valentine's Day card for my husband!
