This pearly birthday card was created with Memory Box's Cake Stand stamp and beautiful Sugardrop papers. The card base is a Memory Box Sugar Plum notecard. I began by stamping the cake stand with Memento Rich Cocoa onto my favorite Neenah Classic Natural White cardstock and colored the leaves with Copic G40 and G21 sketch markers.
I placed flat-backed self-adhesive small accent pearls over the flowers on the cake stand and then colored the cake in with Petal Pink Liquid Pearls, just by using the tip of the applicator to spread around the pearls, just like frosting!
The cake image was cut with Classic Petite Oval Nestabilities and is popped up over the mat that was created with Scalloped Petite Oval Nestabilities. I cut two scalloped layers with the same sized die -- one fromcoordinating Memory Box Sugardrop chocolate patterned paper and one from pink patterned paper. Then I cut the pink mat in half and offset it a little on the top half of the whole chocolate mat. The other half of the pink mat was placed behind the lower half of the whole chocolate mat, offsetting it as well. I like the negative effect that was achieved against the patterned background.
My color choices of narrow satin ribbon that I wanted to use on this image was very limited, but fortunately I had white and my trusty Copics came to the rescue!
My R81 Copic Sketch marker matched the Sugar Plum note card perfectly, so I colored my ribbon to match and then tied some pearl beads (from my stash) at the ends. A strip of chocolate patterned paper was cut with scalloped scissors and machine stitched to the bottom of the card to finish it off.
I hope you enjoyed your non-caloric birthday cake today . . . thanks for stopping by the CLASSroom!
