There's something about transparent paper that has always fascinated me. So naturally I love vellum. My card today uses vellum to highlight or spotlight a portion of a lighthouse.
The lighthouse and birds are part of the beautiful "Beacon of Hope (Lighthouses) Scene It" set. The image was stamped with Memento "Tuxedo Black" ink and then colored with Copics. The sky was sponged with a slightly darker classic ink which helped to create the look of whispy clouds. The ocean was also lightly sponged. After stamping and coloring, I used a Copic marker and the smallest die from the Pinked Large Circle Nestability Dies as a stencil to highlight the area of sky around the top of the lighthouse. (A regular circle die could have been used here.) A circle was also cut in the vellum using this same die.
The vellum was then adhered to the image making sure that the hole in the vellum matched up with the highlighted portion on the image. After it was in place, I trimmed any excess vellum a little larger than the image panel. (It is much easier to wait until after you cut the hole in the vellum before trimming it to size around the image. This way you don't have to cut the hole in an exact spot like you would if the vellum were already perfectly sized. Leave yourself some "room" for adjustments!)
To make the round frame I used a slightly larger Pinked Small Circle Nestability Die and the smallest of the Standard Large Circle Nestability Dies. Running them together through my Cuttlebug created the circular frame all in one cut.
Once the frame was adhered to the vellum, a black Copic multiliner was used to draw a circle inside the frame to further accent the spotlighted portion of the image. The sentiment, also from the "Beacon of Hope (Lighthouses) Scene It" set, was stamped on the vellum. Cornish Heritage Farms' Fishnet Backgrounder was used on the background. Card stock is from Memory Box.
Thanks so much for stopping by the CLASSroom today.
