Using Memento Tuxedo Black ink, today's card began by stamping this cute little Lockhart IB Birds image on this luxurious twill tape. Because of the 1-5/8" width of this twill any of the Lockhart Itty Bitty images would have worked beautifully! I love the rich color you get with Copic markers, so I really wanted to color the birds with them. But...
Have you ever tried to color twill with a Copic marker? The threads grab the ink and it spreads like wildfire! Well I decided to see if it was possible to touch the twill ribbon so gently, so softly and so very quickly that the threads were not given enough time to "grab" the ink but were instead only able to think about it! lol And you know what? It worked!!
Looking at the closeup of the birds you can see that there was not enough ink given to even saturate the sides of the threads. But on the grass, where I wanted the colors to spread and blend, I held the markers down and allowed the threads to become saturated.
Here are the Copics I used.
Note that the Colorless Blender is in the picture. I will admit to one ink "grab" on the small bird right above its eye. The ink spread outside of the image. I took the Colorless Blender to see if I could push the color back onto the bird. I was so excited when it worked!! In fact, if you look closely, you will notice that the blender worked so well it pushed the ink well inside the image leaving no ink across the top of the little bird's head.
Copic B05 was used to color in the Art Flower. An accent pearl was placed at the flower's center.
The "sun" was made using the smallest of the Pinked Large Circle Nestability Dies, the smallest of the Standard Large Circle Nestability Dies and a 3/4" Circle Punch. The pinked circle and punched circle were both colored with Copic Y19.
Memory Box card stock was used as well as their Glitterati designer paper which was placed across the bottom of the card. The sentiment "Happy Spring" is also from Memory Box. Maybe if we all keep thinking SPRING it will finally come? Oh if only!
Happy Crafting!! Thanks so much for stopping by the CLASSroom today!
