Do you think this flower looks like a cabbage rose? Maybe it could pass as a mum or a carnation? Well one thing for sure about this flower is that it is “pink”, and it is also “pinked”! How fun!! Let me show you how I did it!
Using the two smallest circles from both the Small Pinked Circle and the Large Pinked Circle Nestability Dies, I cut three vellum circles of each size.
Next the edges were sponged with a burgundy ink.
Then the center was sponged with a warm yellow.
After all the circles were sponged, I cut on either side of each pinked point to form “petals” with a pair of small scissors.
Once all of the petals were cut, I bent/folded them in varying degrees in a random fashion.
(Note here that on one of the smallest circles I sponged some additional burgundy ink. This circle will be the top piece on the flower.)
The circles were then assembled using glue dots. Small dimensional were placed every third piece to give the flower a mounded look. Stickles was added to the center and allowed to dry.
Once the Stickles was dry, I added more bending and folding to the petals. The flower was mounted onto a backing of card stock cut with the third smallest circles from both the Small Pinked Circle and the Large Pinked Circle Nestability Dies. A bow made with Basic Gray “Euphoria” fiber was added.
For the finishing touch, dew drops were adhered around the flower with glue dots.
The yummy gorgeous Memory Box “Brandywine” designer paper was used for the background and for the top butterfly. This paper is absolutely one of my all time favorites with its rich colors and beautiful patterns.
I quartered a pinked circle and used a couple of the quarters as corner embellishments.
The only stamping on the card is the sentiment. The word “journey” is stamped in Memento "Tuxedo Black" ink and is from the Cornish Heritage Farms set “Scene It, Beacon of Hope (Lighthouses)”. I stamped the word holding the rubber in my hands so that I could bend it into a gentle arc. It worked! I love the way it turned out.
I also used a Sakura Stardust Glitter Pen to dot the center of the flowers on the “Brandywine” paper.
This was SO MUCH FUN!! Thanks for stopping in at the CLASSroom today!
