With this latest Lockhart release Karen has brought back more than just a few childhood memories with the introduction of some old favorite games. It seems that games have changed these days. We always love to pull out board games to play with family and friends when we get together, but the variety has changed. I think perhaps I need to pull out some of the "oldies" and teach my children the games we used to play!
Trying to create out-of-the-box Valentines is something I have been trying to do this year. It's fairly easy to make the heart variety, but when you put your mind to work other ideas just start to flow. Sometimes they get a little unusual as in this one today, but you can most certainly not accuse me of only making pink and red valentines - LOL!
When playing checkers you always start with two colors of game pieces - so I thought I would play off that idea and use little Twinkle Hearts to take the place of those pieces. I guess we arrived at a stalemate being only two "checker hearts" are remaining on the board Ü
It has been a long time since I used this layout. This card design is simple to create. Simply cut your cardstock 4 1/4" x 8 1/2". Score at 1 1/2" and 5 1/2" along the 8 1/2" length. Then cut the flap tops at an angle as shown in the picture above.
Layer a coordinating piece of Cupcake Cardstock beneath the Checkers board and on the top card interior. I also added another little triangle of the lagoon on top of the cupcake sprinkles to add some "zip" to the card interior. Add the sentiment "just waiting for you," along with another mini heart, and your own special end to this thought on the interior of the card.
