Hearts, flowers, chocolate... they all say Valentines in a very loud voice! Sometimes the use of the "typical" image is not what we want though and so when Karen shared this new image and sentiment idea with me I knew this was one that I was truly looking forwards to!
What could be more perfect than to use the Bittersweet papers to make this have a Valentine feeling?
To begin I colored the Gumball machine in pink (R81).
I then used RV34 to add a little more color to the edges of the design and by simply adding a second and third layer of R21 I was able to shade the image. I really liked how the image appeared with the "definition" between colors and so rather than blending it in to a smooth surface I left the colors more defined.
Being I needed a different color of gumball in order to select my "special one" I used different browns ranging from carmel to chocolate for the mundane ones. My special one I made a more brilliant raspberry color. Adding a few opaque highlights and a little glitter helps round out the gumballs.
Tip: When picking my colors it is easiest if I start with a plan. In this case I wanted to use the Bittersweet papers and so I selected Copic colors that coordinated with the colors in my papers.
Being that the raspberry gumball did not show up as well as I wanted it to, I added a pearl to make "the one I wanted" more appealing and visible. So think outside the box this Valentines and let your special someone know that you picked through a lot of gumballs before you selected him (or her Ü)!
