Recycling dictionaries is a fun pastime - old dictionaries are one of the first items I look for at tag sales and auctions (this one above was my dad's from college - very, very old...sorry mom...hee). I've been lucky to come across a few old dictionaries with nicely yellowed pages with older-style fonts - I recycle them by cutting off the spine and storing them in a file for use in my craft projects like the photo above.
For today's project, I tore a section of bird-related definitions, and paired it with a piece of Basic Grey's Eva (6x6 pad). Card base is Memory Box Licorice. Memory Box cardstocks have a white side, ideal for card making.
The Basic Grey 6x6 pads always come with a few sheets that I can't see myself using for card fronts, so I sometimes use them to line envelopes. Here I've used the Memory Box Envelope Liner Template with a piece of dark raspberry from the Eva pack.
Here is the finished, lined envelope. Took a mere fifteen seconds to do this, and it looks sooooo nice when the envelope is slit open by the recipient.
A trick is to insert the liner, line everything up, then apply adhesive to the envelope flap (not the liner) and as far down inside the envelope as your hands allow. This eliminates any shifting and everything lines up nicely.
Using Kim Hughes Landing Pad set, the birdhouse was stamped onto a scrap of Eva cardstock and also on to a piece of cream cardstock. Patterned paper birdhouse was cut out and adhered to ivory layer, lining up images.
Tim's ruler aids in creating a straight line for the birdhouse pole. A Copic Multiliner was used to create the pole. I widened the pole by moving the ruler bit by bit and drawing line after line (touching each time), until the desired width was achieved.
Grounding line, grass and birdhouse were colored in using Copic markers. 'Thank you' sentiment is from Lockhart Stamp Company (May Arts ribbon),
