It's almost time for that infamous sleigh ride -- just 2 weeks away! You can make this one for your holiday decorations or use it on the dinner table for a place card. It's all made from one die set, Spellbinders Sleigh Ride.
You'll need to die cut two of the sleighs. I did this with the Reverse Stenciling technique -- just ink the die with a chalk or pigment ink before die cutting, and the die cutting/embossing process will transfer the ink to the cardstock, leaving the embossed areas the original color of the cardstock. Here, I used a silver metallic cardstock and ColorBox charcoal fluid chalk ink.
Next, cut and score a piece of cardstock to the dimensions listed below (click on the photo for a larger image). I didn't note on the photo that you also need to score each long side 1/4-inch and cut where the score lines meet, as shown in the photo. This will become the bottom for your sleigh.
Then, use an aggressive glue along those 1/4-inch sides, to attach the bottom to the sleigh sides.
You can add a die cut wreath or other decorative element to the back of your sleigh, if you'd like. The packages were made from 1-inch square wood blocks (found at Michael's), covered with matching cardstock. The present & bow on the front are dies included in the Sleigh Ride set -- the present is exactly 1-inch wide and fits perfectly on the block! The embossed areas of the present (stars on the red, and green bow details) were colored in with olive and red Copic Spica Glitter pens. You could place this sleigh between two dinner guests and write their names on the gifts, to use them as place cards.
