Last week I showed a simple paper quilting method; this week's is even simpler! If you don't have time to cut and piece, you can always choose a paper that has a pieced look already and simply add stitching or even faux stitching for a warm, quilted look. All pictures can be enlarged by clicking on them.
I started by choosing a stamp, the Lockhart IB Christmas Tree image, then choosing paper, two patterns from the 6" x 6" Basic Grey Wassail pad. From the paper, I chose my marker colors. I colored the quilted tree image with the Copic markers shown below, then used some glitter with a glue pen to add a bit of snow. (I tried Liquid Applique first, and it seemed to overwhelm the image. Glitter enhanced without overpowering.) The Y21 was used to airbrush a pale yellow background over the tree while the tree was still in its Spellbinders Rectangle Nestability, leaving a white frame.
After finishing with the main image, I gave the patterned paper some attention. I chose a pattern that had a pieced look already, then used a narrow zig-zag stitch and some cranberry thread to sew down the white lines. Below you can see swatches of the paper before (left) and after (right).
Next I added stripes at the bottom and a strip across both patterns on which I had embossed in white embossing powder a sentiment from the CHF Christmas Expressions set. I stitched the cranberry strip on top of the strips and triangles, then added three large brads from the Wassail Brads collection. Finally I mounted the card front on a base. That's it--one more Christmas card for the stash!
