It seems that every time my husband asks for a "guy-card," my stash is depleted. Does this happen to you too? Today I thought that I would get a set of three masculine cards ready, keeping them fairly generic so that I could stamp inside whatever I needed to stamp next time he says, "Jim's birthday was yesterday. Should we send a card?"
I try to keep masculine cards fairly clean and simple--low on the frill-factor. So I started with a Basic Grey Granola 6" x 6" pad and some Granola buttons. I chose Mona Lisa's Birthday Centers sentiments and some 3/8" natural twill--all guy-approved items. I paired my papers and cut them so that I'd have that 1/3 and 2/3 ratio that is visually pleasing, and then sanded all paper edges. (A sanding block gives you the least expensive "layer" that you can add in a white-core paper!) next I embossed my sentiments in a detail white embossing powder, trimmed them, and tacked them with a light touch of adhesive to the card front before sewing the edges. (You'll want to avoid getting adhesive where your sewing machine needle will go through it and get sticky.)
For an added detail, I folded a short length of natural twill and attached it to the sentiment strip before gluing on a threaded button. That's it--a simple trio of undeniably guy cards!
