When I first saw this Cartoon Turkey I laughed out loud. The combination of the sentiment and his droopy eyes make a pretty hysterical combo. Why is it that we eat so much on Thanksgiving day? We often do eat so much that our eyes get droopy and all of our energy drains to our stomachs. Instead of wanting to play games and visit we wobble, or perhaps I should say waddle, over to the couch and slump there for a while. I vow that I am not going to do that this year - I always feel so much better when I eat less, so I think I'll focus on the turkey, stuffing and cranberries, add in a little salad and leave all the other yummies for the others Ü
Being that you actually did seem to enjoy my warped sense of humor with my "hippity... hoppity... boo..." card I figured I might as well continue on my merry way with yet another silly card.
To help give this character the wobble he deserved and make this a true action card I fitted him with his own custom spring. Simply take some 24-gauge wire and wrap it around a marker or pen a few times as shown above.
Then bend the ends of the wires inwards as shown above, to give your spring more stability and a larger surface, to adhere it to your paper. I then used packing tape, because it is SO sticky, to attach the spring to the turkey and to my paper.
One piece of paper that I constantly forget that I can use is the cover sheet that is included in the Memory Box 6x6 packs. It is a perfectly wonderful piece of paper and is the same weight as the remainder of the package. (I must tell you that if you are interested in the Sparkle paper buy it now, because unfortunately once it is gone we can't get anymore. I am SO disappointed - I love this paper!) I felt that the psychadelic colors were perfect for the spinning head this turkey appears to be feeling and thought perhaps you could finish the sentiment, "gobble 'til you wobble," inside with the addition "or until you see psychadelic colors!" to complete this funky character.
Being I was in a hurry and I realized that this paper had a common color to the thread that was already in my sewing machine (WOOHOO score bonus points for that realization) I elected to sew the one edge with a zig zag stitch and add a tag in the coordinating color. The ribbon I had was off white and so I quickly customized it with my Copic Marker YR21. I now have the perfect invitation to Thanksgiving dinner if I am in charge, or perhaps I'll get off easy this year and it will end up being the perfect follow-up thank you! So I will wait to finish off the inside of this card Ü
Thanks for stopping by and I hope you try making a "springy" card - let me tell you that it really is addictive sitting and plunking his little legs to see him wobble. I guess I am reverting to childhood once again - LOL!
