Probably the biggest need for cards in our house comes from my girls. They go to so many birtday parties and it always seems like it is at the very last minute that they ask me, "Mom do you have a card I can use?"
I am loving the new Kim Hughes Birthday Bash set for this purpose. Combine that with her papers and it is quick and easy to whip out a birthday card in no time. The only trick to this is the dry time so I'm excited to have this one now ready to go Ü
I simply stamped the "Let's Party" directly on morning blend and cut along the scallops with my little snips. A little trick when adding the circle of rhinestones is to use an Xacto blade knife to cut the little "strings" leaving the circle of adhesive intact, then lift the entire piece using the knife. I then use a second tool to keep the adhesive from sticking to my hands and carefully keeping it in it's full circle shape lay it lightly on my paper. Keeping the tools in place this allows me to move the gemstones around getting them in to the correct position and then I firmly affix the largest gemstones first working down to the smaller ones.
The cupcake was stamped using Rich Cocoa Memento ink and colored using the following Copic colors: BG11, BG13, Y21, Y38, YG00, G21, and YG23. A little Orange Spica glitter was added to the flame.
To add the liquid pearls I simply fill the cupcake design with the liquid being careful not to push the liquid over the stamp lines. If I happen to cover the line in any way I have my piercing tool handy and just use the tip to lightly run it along the stamp ouline removing the liquid pearls from the lines. Make certain that you leave this design over night being you will truly make a mess if you forget that you have wet pearls on your surface.
Gotta love an easy to create card! Besides girls just can't get enough bling, so this is certain to be a big hit with either the 8-10 year olds or the teenagers!
ETA: Perhaps this teacher was just a little too tired when she was sharing the lesson regarding the rhinestone circles - LOL! I have added a link to the actual product above so that you can see that these rhinestone circles and help this explanation make a tad more sense Ü. There is a very small adhesive strip in the shape of a circle that holds the rhinestones together into this circle shape. Then there are three little adhesive strips that connnect the large circle to the small circle. Unfortunately they are not visible in the picture above. I simply used an Xacto knife to cut these three strips from the larger outside layer and then using my Xacto Knife and the tip of my piercer I lifted the entire circle from it's acetate sheet. When placed lightly on to the surface of your project you can then use these tools to position the rhinestones. Once you have them in the correct position then you apply pressure and affix them to the surface of your project. Hopefully this helps a little with that not so great explanation Ü
