It's probably a terribly kept secret that I love foil! I love how the shine of foil can turn a simple project into a spectacular one and so I was thrilled to add the latest Minc mediums to my stash - reactive mist, art screen ink & art screens. The Minc mediums are so easy to use and provide some really exciting looks!

Minc Art Screen Ink: this ink is the consistency of acrylic paint and can be used in similar ways to paint with the awesome Minc Art Screens (more on these next). The ink is easy to use and not too messy for all my friends who don't like messy crafting.
Place your screen on your paper.
Use a squeegee to push a small amount of screen ink through.
Carefully remove your screen, set your project aside to dry and clean your screen. The quicker you clean your screen, the easier it is. I found a few wipes work great.
Let the screen ink dry COMPLETELY before foiling. I generally let it sit overnight but you can also dry with a heat gun.
You can also use the ink with stencils.
With the screens, the result is more delicate and looks a little more like fancy printing. The result with stencils is much more dimensional (and isn't the ombre foil stunning?!).
1. To create this card start by watercoloring circles with Worn Lipstick Distress Ink on 1/3 of a 4-1/4 x 5-1/2 panel of Smooth Bristol. I used a circle die as a guide because my freehand painting needs more practice, LOL!
2. When the watercolor is dry, apply the Minc Floral Screen and squeegee Minc Screen Ink through. Repeat screen & ink process with another piece of Bristol to use for an accent. When screen ink is dry, place gold foil on top and run through a laminator.
3. Die cut a stitched circle to create an accent. Machine-stitch the Pinkfresh Acetate word "love" to circle. And finish by stamping "hello" from the Essentials by Ellen All Inside stamp set.
4. Add a strip of Pinkfresh patterned paper above watercolored & foiled design, adhere circle accent on top and put it all on a card.
Minc Art Screens: The art screens are slightly tacky on the back so they stick to your surface and the designs are not cut all the way through like a stencil, they really are a screen. They work with all kinds of paper and I had great success with Smooth Bristol, Solar White, vellum and Bazzill Goil Foil.
However I did have a little boo-boo with Ranger Glossy White cardstock...
I could not remove the paper from the screen so I had to start with a new screen. To make sure the screen isn't too sticky to remove easily from your surface, test a corner of the screen on a scrap of your surface (the screens also get less sticky with use).
1. To create this card, use the screen ink like acrylic paint and paint a big-messy-swirly shape on a 4-1/4 x 5-1/2 panel of Solar White.
2. Let screen ink dry. I like to let it dry overnight but you can absolutely use a heat gun. Place gold foil on top and run through a laminator.
3. Trim a 1/4 from panel (to make room for the patterned paper border) or place patterned paper on top.
4. Apply a piece of an art screen (I cut my ruined one apart) and pushed black acrylic paint through the stencil. The screens work fabulously with acrylic paint!
5. Machine-stitch the Pinkfresh Acetate word "sweet" across panel. Complete the sentiment with words from the Essentials by Ellen Totally Awesome stamp set. And assemble card.
Minc Reactive Mist: this mist is super sticky but easy to spray. Make sure to cover your surface when spraying and clean up quickly afterward. The nozzle on the sprayer produces large droplets (see left side of picture) so for a finer mist, just pour a little mist into another spray bottle. I really like the Ranger Mini Mister for a fine mist (see right side of picture).
The key to success with the reactive mist is the same as the screen ink, let dry COMPLETELY. I like to spray it and let it dry overnight before adding foil & running it through a laminator. You can also heat set but be careful to hold you heat gun at a far enough distance or you might move your mist all over (which could also be a cool effect...no mistakes just opportunities for creativity, right?).
1. To create this card, stamp a little flower border along the bottom of a 4-1/4 x 5-1/2 solar white panel with the flower trio from the Pinkfresh Studio Felicity set.
2. Hand cut a mask from Stamping Mask Paper, placed it over the panel and spray with reactive mist.
3. Once mist is dry, place gold foil on top and run through a laminator. Amazing right?!
4. Trim a 1/4 from panel (to make room for the patterned paper border) or place patterned paper on top. And add a sentiment.
5. Then die cut butterflies from adorable Pinkfresh Studio patterned paper and vellum. I used the Minc Toner Pen to add foil highlights to the vellum butterflies...just doodle, let dry a few moments and foil.
6. Hand-stitched vellum butterflies to their patterned paper mates and assemble card.
