ETA: Unfortunately we no longer carry the Create-a-Cut and I do not know where it is that you might find it. Thank you so much for your interest.
"Yes, you can spit sunflower seeds like a lady", I am told by my dear cousin Tim. He took it upon himself to teach these two little cuties to "spit seeds like a lady". When he pointed Katrina and her new little friend out, sitting under the tree at the celebration we were having in honor of his parent's 50th anniversary (this was the day after the big shindig) I had to race for my camera. Tim had been teaching them the art of "spittin' seeds". He just cracked me up when he was telling me how serious they were about trying to follow his directions. I asked him exactly how it was that you spit seeds like a lady, but I never could quite get the full story from him being that I was giggling to hard. It is these unguarded moments that get captured on film that seem to prove to be the most priceless.
This page was incredibly difficult to capture the color accurately - the colors are quite off. The solid yellows and pink are not as vibrant as they show. In this case I wanted the yellow to show the warmth that just bubbles inside me when I see my little monkey, so seriously trying to crack open that seed - not wanting to lose grasp of it and thus let the whole seed enter her mouth - LOL!
To share some of the unique ideas as to what you can do with this cutter I only cut the right side of the page with the small wavy blade. If you want all four sides shaped go for it. I LOVE the small wavy blade - I'm not certain if the scallop or this blade is my favorite. By cutting strips of different widths you can get the look of rick rack. Another awesome little thing to know is that "real" rick rack, such as the basic Doodlebug rick rack aligns perfectly with the edge of this blade. This will allow for a whole new look in your cardmaking, scrapping or paper crafting. Here is a little snippet of a card I made using this combination:
You can cut the tiniest little strips of "rick rack" and layer them.
Eventually I will get around to showing you how to weave the papers as well. This is something really cool that I learned from Debbie of Made Easy Inc. at CHA.
The flowers were made using my Cuttlebug and the centers are I-Kandee. Paper piercing within the little scallops also was a lot of fun. I just used one of my Ornare templates (I'm sorry but I don't remember which one) and just moved it right along the scalloped edge to get a wonderful consistent look.
Use some of these same ideas in card making - only cut one side of your card or cut three sides. I have so many ideas exploding in my head that hopefully I'll have time to complete soon and then share to inspire you with new ways to use your Create-a-Cut.
You are taking scrapbooking to another level lady! I don't know what you think is wrong with this page, I think it is FABULOUS! I even clicked on them for the enlarged and close up view. FABULOUS, FABULOUS, FABULOUS. I'm a embarresed because I've been scrapbooking for quite a while and my pages don't look anything like this which is, by the way, the way I'd like for them to look. TFS.
