Welcome to Day 10 of 12 Tags of Christmas with a Feminine Twist! I'm Heather and this is my first time joining in the 12 Tags tradition here in The CLASSroom! I had a blast creating tags with these sweet, wooly cuties from Mama Elephant and some must-have staples from the Essentials by Ellen line. It was even more fun because my guest today is Mama Elephant's own, Kryssi Ng. Kryssi and I both created designs using the colors below for inspiration.
First up, I did a little coloring. I like to keep track of the colors I use by making a swipe of color down the side of the paper I'm working on. It's a simple way for me to see how the colors work together at a glance (and hold on to for later reference if it's a combo I really like). I was keepin' it simple here, using a few like-colors for basic shading to add just a little bit of depth.
Then I made a few passes through my die cutting machine to create the layers I'd need to build the tag and scene. I cut trees, the little sheep, and the window and tag shapes from the Columbus Circle die set. I also created a layer of texture using the Stitches Cover Plate die.
After the die cutting and embossing were finished, I used a glass mat and circle cutter to cut around the window frame, making it a stand-alone circle. Then I cut out another circle from the embossed white cardstock. (I also cut an additional circle from kraft cardstock for the base.) My circles are all 4", but you can make them any size you like. You can see how they all sandwich together to build the tag in the next shot ...
The bottom layer is the "extra" kraft circle I cut for the base. I adhered the small tag from the Columbus Circle die set to the base. After building my scene on the white embossed layer, I adhered that over the base and small tag. Finally, using foam tape to pop it up, I adhered the window frame on top. (With one additional clear layer, you could easily turn this idea into a shaker tag too.)
I had a few leftover images and pieces of cardstock from making the larger tag and used them to whip up this little "bonus" tag to match. It was quick and easy, running two layers of cardstock through my die cutting machine to create an easy peasy, perfectly matched snowy landscape to rest the sheep on. Adhere the trees and sheep and - just like that - you've got yourself another tag!
I finished off the pretty green lights wrapped around the sheep on both tags with a little sparkle using Stickles.
We are thrilled to welcome Kryssi Ng, co-founder of Mama Elephant, back to The CLASSroom today. We love Kryssi's inspiring style and who better to celebrate Mama Elephant with than her? Kryssi's CAS style always inspires and we're so thankful she's sharing her creativity with us today!
